A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON SELECTED PSYCHOLOGICAL VARIABLES AMONG INDIAN FEMALE FOOTBALL PLAYERS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the level of achievement motivation and competitive anxiety among high and low performing football players at different levels of competition .To measure the achievement motivation and competitive anxiety, the sports achievement motivation test by Kamlesh (SAMT,1990) and sports competitive anxiety test by Sinha & Sinha (SCAT,1995) were selected as a criterion measure. A group of one hundred twenty (n=120) footballers were examined. They were divided into three groups School level (n=40), College level (n=40) and Club level (n=40).Further each group was divided into high performance group and low performance group on the basis of their competition performance. Those teams who secured first and second position in School State championship, Inter College championship and Club State championship were considered as high performing group. The teams
