Abstract

The aim of the present study was to assess the dermatoglyphics patterns of distal phalanges in national level male boxers. Forty (40) national level boxers (male) were studied for their dermatoglyphics pattern of distal phalanges. The data was analyzed by the help of statistical techniques frequency and percentage. In all the distal phalanges of hands Loop patterns was predominateand composite whorl pattern were nearly missing, however no specific dermatoglyphics pattern was observed in national level boxers. The present study suggested that dermatoglyphics is an evincing science towards providing a breakthrough in unsolved problems of sports for genetic study. But further studies in the same direction are highly recommended.
