Abstract

In the world of construction, only material which is highly in usage is concrete due to its compressive strength and durability. For proper strength and durability of concrete its curing must be done thoroughly which include many problems like human negligence, problem of availability of water in arid areas, difficult terrains for transportation. To avoid such problems in this study we have used an admixture polyethylene glycol which is a self-curing agent which prevents the evaporation of water molecules from concrete and hence increasing its water retention capacity. In this study we have taken polyethylene glycol for the internal curing of concrete by 0% to 1.5% to the weight of cement; the study has carried out on concrete of design mix M20 and M25, where it has been seen that polyethylene glycol helps in self-curing with better workability than conventional concrete.
