Abstract

This paper is intended to analyse the financial performance of select public sector enterprises in India. Generally, performance is assessed with financial or accounting based measures. Funds are invested in various assets in business to make sales and earn profits. The efficiency with which assets are managed directly affects the volume of sales. The better management of assets, the larger is the amount of sales and the profits. Financial or accounting ratios measure the efficiency or effectiveness with a firm managing its resources or assets including the operating, profitability, liquidity and cash flow efficiency. These ratios are also called turn over ratios because they indicate the speed with which assets are converted or turned over into sales.
