LIFESTYLE AND QUALITY OF WORK LIFE AMONG BPO EMPLOYEES WITH AN UPBRINGING IN A SEMI-URBAN ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

An environment which is a fusion of two or more cultures is present in the BPO companies. To efficiently balance work and personal life BPO employees are exposed to varied mannerisms, attitudes, working style etc. The present research is works on the lines to study and understand the relationship between lifestyle and quality of work life among BPO employees with an upbringing in a semi-urban environment. This research should be able to help us find the association between the two variables that are considered. Based on the above stated points the objective of the study is framed so as to study the relation between lifestyle and quality of life among BPO employees with an upbringing in a semi-urban environment. A total of 60 BPO employees both (30 men and 30 women) belonging to the age group of 22-28 years were considered for the study. The exploratory design was adopted. The lifestyle scale is used to measure the lifestyle among the employee and Quality of Work-Life Scale, a standardized questionnaire developed by Santhosh Dhar, Upinder Dhar, Rishu Roy (2005) was administered to each of the sample. The results indicate that there is a significant relation between lifestyle and quality of work life among BPO employees with an upbringing in a semi-urban environment.
