Abstract

This study seeks to investigate and analyze problems of garment exporting industries in Ethiopia particularly in Oromia Region. For fulfilling this objective a pilot tested questionnaire is used consisting of 24 questions and the responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Exploratory Factor Analyses. The data was obtained through self-administered questionnaire from a sample of 4 Garment exporting factories. The questionnaire used a likert like scale ranging from 1 upto 5, while reliability of scale was tested using cronbach’s alpha. 52 respondents were administered a questionnaire consisting of 24 questions addressing problems. Cronbach’s alpha stood at 0.745 which is a good indication of constructs reliability. In order to test suitability of data for factor analysis correlation matrix was investigated and accordingly it was identified that many of the coefficients are 0.3 and above. Further KMO stood at 0.559 while Bartlett test was significant. Exploratory factor analysis identified eight latent factors including Technology problem, Industry and Institution Relations, Raw material Problems, Managerial capabilities, Infrastructure, Labor problems, Financial problems and Marketing problems through varimax method of rotating components.
