INFLUENCE OF MODERNIZATION ON URBAN AND RURAL LOCATED MISHING STUDENTS IN LAKHIMPUR DISTRICT – A STUDY

Abstract

An attempt has been made to examine the acceptance of modernization of Mishing students studying in undergraduate level in Lakhimpur District. The Mishing are one of ethnic tribe group and second largest tribe of Assam. They are said to have migrated from hill to plain in different time following river courses. A large number of Mishing people live in Lakhimpur distrct. Lakhimpur is a district of Assam situated in the northern part of the river Brahmaputra. In this paper, there are 364 students of both gender selected as its sample. The stratified random sampling technique is employed for selecting sample. The findings of the study show that there is no significant difference between boys and girls, urban and rural areas students in accepting modernization.
