Abstract

Financial literacy is a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude and behaviour necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual financial wellbeing.Research has been conducted worldwide for measuring the level of financial literacy. The goal of this paper is to provide a snapshot of the current state of financial literacy among the marginalized sectors of our economy as backward castes tend to have a lower level of financial knowledge as compared to other forward classes. It attempts to measure how the different aspects of financial literacy i.e. financial attitude, financial behavior and financial knowledge influence each other and how various socio-demographic factors determine financial literacy among selected sample households.
