Abstract

This article analyzes the development of a collaborative logistics chain implementedin the form of the Consolidation and Collaboration Centers (CCC). The results show the importance of the properties of the Information System (IS) to achieve this. These properties are 1) interoperability not required with internal IS, 2) centralization of information through pooled interdependence, and 3) a SaaS (Software as a Service) information platform managed by a service provider. These qualities are magnified with reference to the logistics company Charter Logix. Finally, the governance of this supply chain is discussed, highlighting the role of different actors in the supply chain in pooling physical and information flows.
