Abstract

Here, multiple twinned AgNi alloy nanoparticles (NPs) with average diameter~ 19±2 nm, were synthesized by one pot colloidal co-reduction method. The as-synthesized NPs were well characterized by XRD, TEM, and FTIR analysis. The catalytic activity of as synthesized NPs was screened in ammonia borane (AB) hydrolysis reaction and Ag6Ni4 was found highest active among all composition which showed complete hydrolysis of AB in 10 min. To enhance the catalytic activity of alloy NPs, we supported present NPs on graphene oxide (GO) and SBA-15 and screened in AB hydrolysis. The Ag6Ni4/GO was found highly active and stable for long time. The calculated TOF value for Ag6Ni4/GO was 10.08 min-1 which is very high compared to other support materials proving it best catalyst for AB hydrolysis. The high catalytic activity of Ag6Ni4/GO may be due to best adsorption/desorption behavior of substrate on catalytic surface due to large surface area and pi-pi stacking ability of graphene oxide sheets.
