TEA GARDEN LABOURS AND THEIR LIVING CONDITION: A STUDY ON TENGAPANI TEA-ESTATE, TINSUKIA DISTRICT

Abstract

Assam is world famous for its tea and tea is considered to be one of the great source of refreshment. A person forgets all his tiredness after having a cup of tea. So tea is very important in human life. And the contribution of Tea Garden labours is very vital in this regard. Hence in this paper an attempt is made to study the living conditions of the tea garden labours and the welfare amenities provided to them with special reference to Tengapani Tea Garden Makum which is located in Tinsukia district of Assam. Also certain measures to improve the conditions of the labours are suggested to Tea Garden owners.
