The industrial revolution in Great Britain resulted in 2% economic growth per annum which meant a doubling of per capita income over 35 years and about 8 fold increase over a century. Historically speaking, due to colonialism and imperialist domination, India and likewise many other developing countries could not have their own industrial revolution, 150 years ago. For example: In India , until after first world war there was no protection for the steel industry. Also the increasing man to land ratio which was one of the results of de-industrialisation of Indian economy owing to cheaper and much superior quality of UK manufactures further deteriorated their progress.
