Abstract

The fresh water prawn Macrobrachium dayanum collected from the fresh water reservoirs of Ballia district of U.P. to study the role of neuroendocrine system in the reproductive physiology of female Macrobrachium dayanum. The animals were kept under observation in both control and eye stalk ablated conditions and changes in their reproductive physiology was documented by several histological observation of their gonads (ovaries). The given study infers that there is a significant increase in the growth rate of gonads of eye stalk ablated prawns.
