Abstract

The basic purpose of this work is to show the development and present status of the libraries in general and educational institutions. The internet makes the information easily, freely and instantly accessible. From school going to job seekers, the call of internet is strong. Virtual libraries provide a new way of serving the users of the library. This paper provides an overview of a virtual library system and how it differs from the traditional library system.
