Abstract

Job stress has become a daily routine but now a days Job Burnout i.e prolonged stress has become talk of the town. Colangelo (2004) defined teacher stress as an unpleasant feeling that teachers experience as a result of their work. Empirical evidence have shown that, teachers experiencing more stress were burned out (Ganster& Schaubroeck, 1991, Kokkinos, 2007; Moore, 2007) In the present study Maslach Burnout Inventory has been used to measure level of Job Burnout among Faculty teaching in Private Universities in the Punjab State of India. The findings of the study show significant results in favour of presence of all the three dimensions of Burnout as stated by Maslach (1981). This study can become a guiding factor for all future studies pointed towards educators Burnout.
