Abstract

A big part of population is directly or indirectly depends upon MSMEs for their livelihood. MSMEs are the matchless appearance of our society and way of life. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises play a vital role in the development process of most economies. This position can be reflected in the form of their increasing number and rising proportion in the overall product manufacturing, exports, manpower employment, production, contribution in GDP and promotion of entrepreneurial skills. The main objective of this paper is to make an analysis of the development of MSMEs in the Jammu and Kashmir and to find out the problems and remedies for the development of MSME in Jammu & Kashmir. The MSMEs are studied in terms of change in the number of enterprises a, employees and investment. More than ninety-one per cent of SSI/MSME units are proprietary concerns and has a mass entrepreneurial base. MSMEs can provide more employment opportunities with less investment and can play a major role in all over growth of Jammu & Kashmir.
