Abstract

Abstract: The oxidation of cyclohexanol and 2-methyl cyclohexanol by hexacyanoferrate (III) in alkaline medium catalysed by rhodium (III) chloride shows first order kinetics with respect to [substrate] and [OH-], while it is changing from one to zero at higher oxidant concentration. The rate is directly proportional to low concentrations of catalyst, reaches to a maximum and beyond which rate becomes inversely proportional to catalyst concentration. Arrhenius parameters at different temperatures were also calculated. Keywords: Oxidation, kinetics, hexacyanoferrate(III), rhodium(III) chloride, catalysis.
