Abstract

Eighteenth century in India has been one of the most heatedly discussed themes in historical discourse. One of the most evident processes worthy of exploration is related to emerging political factions and state systems in this very century. Some states emerged as off-shoots of disintegrated Mughal system, while some grew on level grounds hitherto unproductive politically. Howsoever, may be the processes behind the emergence of these states in 18th century, the central base for there growth and subsequent expansion was the political ideology of the ruler and its varied applications at the level of the society.
