Abstract

INTRODUCTION Oral administration of pharmaceuticals is one of the most popular methods of drug delivery. Many orally administered drugs elicit bitter taste. Palatability is an extremely important factor in ensuring the likelihood that the recipient will intake the pharmaceuticals. For patients, the main benefit of ODT is in the ease of taking a product that taste good, anywhere, anytime. The elderly and children, along with anyone that has difficulty swallowing due to a medical condition, can easily take this medication. Some people are able to swallow a traditional tablet without water; however, most of us need water or some other fluid to wash the tablet down. Therefore, a major benefit for people using ODT products for “as needed” conditions such as seasonal allergies, migraines, etc, is the ability to take the medication
