In recent years natural polysaccharides based structural materials are extensively used in biomedical applications. Psyllium, a natural polysaccharide that significantly reduce serum glucose when taken as dietary fiber and, if it will chemically modified to prepare the novel hydrogels for controlled release of insulin; it can act as potential drug delivery device for cure of diabetes mellitus.
