Abstract

The paper attempts to analyse the reasons for the growth in Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) since the first half of the 21st century. The government has been extremely concerned with the ‘twin balance sheet’ problem that has been noticed both in the banks as well as big companies. The banks who provide the finance are largely public sector banks (PSBs).
