Abstract

Lentil (Lens Culinaris Medik L.) is cool season pulse crop belong to papilionaceae family originated in India where it is widely grown and highly esteemed legume crop which covered 15 lakh hectare area and 9.5 total lakh tones production is since 2011. In India it is mainly grown in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. It is cultivated in many countries in the world viz., Canada, India, Turkey, Australia, and USA. India occupy 2nd position in lentil production (1, 134000 mt.) after Canada and the total lentil production in the world is 4,975,621 metric tons since 2013.
