The samples of tin(IV) iodotungstate have been synthesized under varying mixing ratios of reactants at pH≤1. The most chemically and thermally stable sample was synthesized by mixing the solution of 0.1 M tin(IV) chloride in to the mixture of 0.1 M sodium tungstate and 0.1 M potassium iodate solutions in the ratio 1:1:2. The material has been characterized on the basis of ion exchange capacity, pH titration, chemical stability, FTIR, TGA and XRD. The effects of hydrated ionic radii and drying temperature on ion exchange capacity have also been studied. The distribution coefficients for various metal ions have been determined to explore its analytical importance.
