Abstract

Landslides also called Landslip which occurs due to the downside movement of soil, rock, debris or earth. They occur both due to natural and man-made factors. These greatly disrupt the accessibility and tourism activity in Himalayan destinations. And, badly affect the socio-economic aspects associated with the tourism destinations. Hence, it’s very important to develop the tourism destinations depending on carrying capacity and to do development which is sustainable, long lasting and involving local community. The present study focuses on the landslides in Dharamshala city, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh which have impacted its tourism activity over a period of time, especially in July, 2021. And, mitigation measures which could possibly lead to reduction of landslides and help not only tourism, but the local economy and people.
