Abstract
Telecom Industry has come up as one of the fastest growing industry in past two decades. Its contribution in keeping people connected as well as employment generation can never be over emphasized. The present paper is an historical and factual study which throws light on evolution of telecom industry, its phenomenal growth and policy framework in India with special reference to mobile telephony.
