Abstract

Ethnobotany can be defined as the total natural and traditional relationship and interactions between man and his surrounding plant wealth ethnobotany is generally taken as the science of relationships of only the primitive or aboriginal people with plants. Sometimes, the term ethnobotany has been considered synonymous with traditional medicine. The impact of ethnobotany in conservation of natural resources is very direct. The primitive people have preserved forests as sacred groves or through over mythological associations studies on folk medicine will be useful for the exploration of new drugs. Phytochemical and pharmacology of some ancient folk medicines are being used for the production of herbal medicines.
