Abstract

Climatic conditions directly affect the productivity of crops and the recent climate changes such as global warming has led to a decrease in overall crop yield. Greenhouses can be used to address this problem by providing the crops a suitable environmental condition to increase their yield. This paper aims to propose an automated greenhouse system with which a controlled environment can be simulated, hence increasing both quality and productivity of the crops. Furthermore we have designed a system so that the parameters of environment inside the greenhouse can be varied according to different crops and different seasons using a HEX Keypad. The automatic greenhouse employs soil moisture sensor, an LDR and a DHT11 sensor to facilitate monitoring and subsequently controlling the climatic parameters to best suit the crops. All of the sensors and actuators are being controlled by Arduino UNO. The result is an automatic greenhouse which increases yield and quality of crops with minimum requirement of labor and relatively cheap costs.
