Abstract

The study intends to find out the awareness of Anganwadi workers on the early identification of childhood disabilities such as mental retardation, hearing impairment, visual impairment and cerebral palsy. Descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. Awareness inventory on early identification and general data sheet was used for the collection of data. The sample of the study consists of 150 Anganwadi workers of Kottayam district of Kerala state. The collected data were analyzed by using arithmetic mean, standard deviation and one way analysis of variance. Study reveals that educational qualification and years of work experience are significant factors that influence early identification of childhood disabilities.
