Abstract
In early 1991, Indian economy was in a precarious condition as it was left with foreign currency reserves which were just sufficient for mere 2-3 week of imports. International creditors then declined help as they had apprehensions that Government of India may default in repayment due to it’s the then ailing macro economic factors. International monetary Fund (IMF) was then the only hope but it too declined to help until Government of India committed itself to go for some economic reforms, particularly, the globalization of its economy.
