Abstract

Availability of career development opportunities ensure that organization has the right people with right skills to get the job done and achieve organizational goals. It results developing a talent pool to meet organizational current and future needs. Today’s employees are more career conscious than ever. Opportunity to gain new skills and experiences can increase employee motivation and employee retention. High rate of sales force attrition is one of the major problems faced by the organizations. Career development is one of the fundamental reasons of sales force attrition. The current study aims to reveal sales force career growth in Pharmaceutical industry and also to find out whether the opinion of sales force on career growth in this industries is different based on their designation and experience. For this study, a sample of 145 was chosen with convenient sampling technique in various designations of sales departments in Pharmaceutical industry. Applied statistical tools include Cronbach’s alpha, descriptive statistics, cross order correlation and Chi-square analysis. The study found that opinion regarding career progression, career support wasdifferent among different designations, total experience of employees.
